Wingfoiling on Bonaire

Bonaire has many beaches with calm water and constant trade winds. This makes Bonaire the ideal place for wingfoiling. Wingfoiling combines elements of windsurfing, kitesurfing, and hydrofoiling. It doesn't matter whether you have a lot of experience or are just starting out. Advanced wingfoilers can go to Atlantis Beach, which is known for its challenging opportunities. Beginners can learn wingfoiling on Bonaire at FX Kiteboarding.

What is wingfoiling?

Floating above the water; that is the essence of wingfoiling. All you need is a wing and a board equipped with a foil, a fin-like structure under your board. You always start on your knees on the board. Next, you take the wing in your hand and try to catch the wind. As soon as you gain speed, you stand upright on your board. By tilting your board only slightly, it rises and lifts you above the water, causing you to 'float', as it were. You can control your direction with the wing. It is crucial to maintain your balance and keep your body still while wingfoiling.

What are the best places for wingfoiling on Bonaire?

There are many spots on Bonaire that are perfectly suited for wingfoiling. Beginner wingfoilers are best off heading to Lac Bay. The water in this beautiful azure bay is shallow and there is always a perfect wind. This spot is also highly recommended for advanced wingfoilers. Looking for more of a challenge? Then Atlantis Beach is what you're looking for. This beach is a ten-minute drive from Windhoek Bonaire. Here, too, you never have to worry about the wind; it is always perfect. Several surf schools are located at Atlantis Beach where you can also rent your gear. Many turtles also nest at Atlantis Beach, so keep an eye on the signs to see where you are and aren't allowed to go, so as not to disturb these animals.
